Merry Maids of Belton, Missouri has partnered with a local rescue to host Waggin Wednesdays. Each week, the Merry Maids team hosts one of the shelter dogs from Lily's Rescue Rehab to spend the day in the office. 

The goal is to give the dogs a break from the shelter, provide them with extra socialization, and help spread the word that they're looking for a forever home.

The partnership was a natural choice, since owner Jebra Capra and operations manager Andrea Brashear are animal lovers. They both own pets and have hobby farms with goats, chickens, pigs, and horses.

“This partnership has been incredibly rewarding, especially since so many of our clients are passionate about their own pets,” Jebra said.

Being a part of the community

Merry Maids of Belton was already involved in community events, including donating cleanings, hosting trunk or treats, sponsoring holiday events, and more. Jebra has actually been involved with Merry Maids for 30 years, as she moved from teammate to quality assurance, branch manager, trainer, manager, co-owner, and sole owner. However, Jebra and Andrea discussed what they cared most about and decided they would like to connect even more with people through rescue animals. 

Owner Amy Klein of Lily’s Rescue Rehab was excited about the idea. She liked that they wanted to help raise money, and she also asked if they would be willing to host dogs at the office.

Jebra was already bringing her dog Buddy to the office – with the job title Chief Morale Officer. She thought it would be a great fit to include more dogs, especially ones that needed homes.

“Each time we’ve brought a dog into the office, we post about it and we have had great customer engagement,” Jebra said. “We have people continually coming into the office just to meet the dog. They come from other local businesses, our customers come in – just all day long.” 

The office also shares information about finding homes for the dogs and ways to help or donate to the shelter.

Connecting on multiple levels

Inviting people to the office and introducing them to rescue pets is a great way for the Merry Maids team to connect with their community members.

“I know that helping in your community in any capacity is great, and people get excited about helping these pets find homes,” she said. “It brings something different and new to be excited about.”

Jebra also appreciates how the entire team enjoys the shelter dogs.

“It’s really good for our teammates too,” she said. “Word is spreading, so even more people are coming to visit. Not every cleaning service has a brick and mortar building in our area, so we like hosting events for customers here to help everyone get more involved.”

The team at Merry Maids of Belton is excited to continue making connections with their clients, neighboring businesses, and potential future customers. 

“I love Merry Maids,” Jebra said. “I grew up in it. I love the culture I was raised in and the one I’m now creating for my teammates.”
